Happy mid-week Skindeepies!
In today's entry, I would like to share with you guys the top beauty tools that I have been using. Over the years, I have learned that the effectiveness of a product be it skincare or make-up does not only rely on the quality but the method of applying it. In this case, the tools that I use to apply that has helped me to achieve the results I want. So read on to know more!
First up, we have the Silcot Sponge Touch Moisturising Ururu Cotton Pads. Yes, long name but worth the buy!
A little bit about the brand; Silcot is a Japanese brand that is famous for its series of soft texture cotton pads, mainly the Unicharm Silcot Cotton Pads series. The types of cotton in this series include Skirukotto, Fukitori, and the one I am currently using, Ururu Cotton.
This is the BEST cotton pad that I have purchased and tried so far! It is not your typical cotton pad that leaves fine fibre on your face after using and it glides on your face smoothly. Another great thing about this cotton pad is that it doesn't absorb your liquid products easily. Unlike your skin, the better the cotton pad absorbs your liquid product, the lesser product will be transferred on your skin hence, the product won't be as effective.
As you can see, this cotton pad is very thin. One cotton pad consists of 2 parts. Usually, I will use them separately but if you wish to use both parts, go ahead and it works just fine. What products are suitable for this cotton pad you may ask? It works well with liquid/watery products and lotions. Personally, I use them for my toner and chemical exfoliant. With these cotton pads, I will end up using only 1/3 of my toner by the end of the month so, I save A LOT.
In case you are interested to purchase this series of cotton pads, you can find them at your nearest department stores like Watsons, Guardian etc. It is also available online and is usually sold in bulks. Next, we have the Make-Up Brush Cleaning Mat!
What are cleaning mats exactly and why do I find them effective? Cleaning mats are usually made from silicone and what makes them special are the ridges & patterns on them. As you can see, my cleaning mat does not come as a 'mat' but as a silicone heart-shaped holder and in a smaller size but it works just the same. By running your make-up brushes on the ridges & patterns will help to remove the residue/foundation/make-up on the brushes better(of course don't forget your washing liquid!).
The different patterns on the mat are dedicated to different types of brushes. If you can see on my cleaning mat, the smaller patterns are usually for small brushes like your eyeshadow/concealer brushes. Cleaning mats will help you save more time to do your weekly/monthly cleaning of brushes. Thoroughly cleaned brushes mean lesser bacteria build-up, and so can lead to a lesser chance of getting breakouts on your skin!
Make-Up Brush Cleaning Mats can come in different sizes and patterns according to your likings so you don't really have to look out for any specific ones. The mat that I currently own is from the brand MKUP but unfortunately, they don't sell it anymore, according to their website. I believe you can get them at Shopee or Lazada. The last beauty tool that I wish to share is the Sephora Daily Make-Up Brush Cleaner.
This product is great if you apply make-up daily for work, school etc., and need a quick wash for your brushes so that you can use them again the next day.
How does this product help me? It helps to lessen the bacteria build-up on the brushes. Quick cleaning of your brushes daily is better than waiting for the end of the week/month to do so. On days you use your uncleaned brushes, bacterias are already collected on them and you are basically applying and transferring them on your face. Another good factor about this spray is it saves me a lot of time to re-use my brushes immediately after cleaning them or on the next day.
All you have to do is spray it on a paper towel or cloth then proceed to rub your brushes on it. Residue from the brushes will start to come off so just ensure you rub the brushes until clean. Please remember that you still NEED to do your weekly/monthly thorough cleaning for your brushes with proper washing liquid; this is to ensure that any remaining bacterias are removed.
