Hello everyone!
Welcome to my FIRST review ever!!! Hehehe.
If you are new here and have yet to click on the 'About' tab on this site(and I wonder why), just a short introduction; this blog was created by me, with the aim to share my personal reviews on facial products that I intend to use or have been using, in hoping that it will be informative and beneficial to you!
DISCLAIMER: All products that are featured on this site might not be suitable for you as it is for me. Always bear in mind that skin type varies from one person to another and it is important for us to know our own skin type before trying on a new product.
So let's get started!
Introducing to you, my favourite make-up remover(so far), The Farmacy - Green Clean Cleansing Balm!
Brand: Farmacy Beauty
Price: S$52
Miza's Ratings: 9/10
Suitable for: ALL skin types
So thankful to whoever invented cleansing balm because this baby changed my life(or at least changed how I remove make-up). For the longest time, I have been using make-up remover wipes and personally, I did not feel as if all make-up residue/impurities were wiped off my face. I have also read some articles mentioned that make-up remover wipes are not recommendable to use as it can cause micro-tears, damaging, and advancing the ageing process of your skin. I mean, it makes sense with the fact that we tend to scrub/exfoliate instead of gently wiping our face and eye to remove the make-up and dirt.
I got to know about cleansing balms from one of my favourite beauty guru/Youtuber - Michelle Phan. She is known for her FLAWLESS skin, and when I say FLAWLESS, like really FLAWLESS like Beyonce's FLAWLESS from her album she made when she found out Jay-Z cheated on her. Actually, IDRK cause I love Rihanna. So anyway, I decided to find cleansing balms on Sephora and eventually it brought me to Farmacy Beauty.

Top ingredients in Green Clean Cleansing Balm:
Sunflower & Ginger Root Oils - Helps to melt stubborn makeup (including your waterproof/smudge-proof mascaras)
Turmeric & Moringa Extract - Helps to remove impurities, sunscreen residues
Papaya Extract - Helps to exfoliate pores
So this product is a 2 in 1 cleanser(it can act as a make-up remover and facial cleanser separately) and comes as a thick balm-like texture and it is supposed to work with your make-up to melt it. It gives off a subtle smell of essential oils which I think are the sunflower & ginger root oils(but don’t worry, the smell is not overwhelming at all!). The colour is pleasant looking, between pastel & mint green. Also, the balm comes with a small spatula so it is easy for you to scoop out the product, also preventing bacteria/germs getting inside it from scooping up with your bare fingers. It also has a shelf-life of 12 months after opening it so for those of you who rarely put on make-up, you can definitely save a lot with one purchase.
How to:
Ensure your hands are clean and the face is dry.
Depending on how heavy your make-up is, scoop up a coin-sized(50 cents like that lah, alamak) of the balm with the small spatula and spread it at the tip of your fingers.
Work the product on your face slowly AND gently, massaging in circular motions with your fingers(Do NOT use your fingernails). You will start to feel your make-up melting with the balm.
Just make sure you continue to massage until you feel that your make-up is incorporated with the balm.
Wash away with water (preferably, lukewarm water) OR you can wipe off with a damp cloth.
After this step, you may choose to or not to double cleanse with your usual facial cleanser and proceed to the rest of your skincare routine.*
*Personally, I will double cleanse because I feel that the first cleanse only removes the make-up, while the second will ensure that your skin is clean from any other impurities. Of course, this is MY skincare routine and you may wish to stop after the first cleanse and proceed with your personal skincare routine.
I fell in love with this cleansing balm after my first try as it leaves my skin feeling smooth and clean. On days that I put on very light make-up, I don’t follow up with my normal facial cleanser after the cleansing balm. Unlike my normal make-up wipes, it doesn’t leave mascara/eyeliner stains on my lash line nor does it leaves my skin oily, and I do not have to wash my face multiple times to ensure all impurities are removed. I bought it about 4 months ago and I am still on my first tub. Ok lah, it lasted this long because I rarely put on make-up during the Covid quarantine period. I feel that the product works well even when you apply a small amount so you can save more with just one purchase. As Michelle Phan always says: "Less is more!"
This product originates from the U.S and there, they have 3 different sizes and unfortunately, they don’t do overseas shipping. However, you can find them in Singapore, only at Sephora and it only comes in 1 size that is 100ml. IT IS quite pricey. All cleansing balms that I came across AND is available to purchase in Singapore stores are around the same price. I hope I can try to find a cheaper alternative and hopefully, can provide you with a good comparison and review separately. Scroll down for the link if you wish to purchase this product.
Verdict? I would definitely buy it again!
That is all from me! I hope you enjoyed reading this review and that it may help you in some way!
Do let me know in the comment section on what you think, and if there are other brands of cleansing balms that I can try.
Until the next one Skindeepies(yes I made this up. Give chance lah)!
